HVSA MODIFIED FASTPITCH RULES ADDENDUM to the OASA Rulebook  (as of Feb. 2011) 

 

            1.  limited to 90 minutes - no inning to start after 75 minutes (1¼ hrs).

 

            2.  Inning Parameters: 3 outs per team, or 5 runs (per team), within the same inning - unlimited runs in the final inning.

 

3.  Four innings played constitutes a complete game, in the event of rain or other premature ending.

 

4.  Runners may advance to the next base only after the ball has crossed home plate.

 

5.  Teams may play with 10 players - rover must be in the outfield - 8 players minimum to field a team if team does not have enough - registered players from the opposing team or any of the Hillcrest teams may play on the team that is short.

 

6.  Home team bench is the third base dugout.

 

7.  Pitching: Windmill is prohibited. Pitching hand may not be higher than the head on the back swing/wind up - pitch cannot arc more than six feet in height.

 

8.  All players must wear team jerseys.

 

9.  Equipment required  - batting helmets must be worn at bat & on the bases. Catchers mask must be worn, even when warming up the pitcher. Shin guards are provided and are optional.

 

10. All players bat whether they have played in the field or not players. A player who arrives after the game has started can only be added to the bottom of the batting order. Batting line-ups must be provided to the League Scorer prior to the start of the game. Teams must also notify the League Scorer when a player arrives late, and/or leaves early.

 

11. Batters throwing the bat, or helmet, will be called out and may be ejected from the game. Bat handles must be taped.

 

12. Courtesy runners may be used throughout the game; provided the Scorer has been notified prior to the start of the game. Teams are limited to two courtesy runners per game. In addition, a courtesy runner can be used for an injured player, however the “courtesy” must be the most recent player to get out, or is the furthest in the batting order from having to bat.

 

13. Pitchers must be removed from the mound if they strike out six batters, and/or their   team leads by a minimum of six runs.

 

14.  Runners must not contact home plate. If so, they will be called out - even on a home run. Catchers must not tag a runner. If so, the runner tagged will be called safe.

 

15. Fighting   - Players involved will be removed from the game and given an automatic five  game suspension – Second infraction; they will be ejected from the league.

 

16. The league reserves the right to suspend any player for gross unsportsmanlike conduct without appeal.   – Physical contact or threatening of an umpire or convenor will result in a minimum ten game suspension, or ejection from the league, depending on the severity of the offense.

 

17.  Bunting is prohibited. Metal cleats are also prohibited.

 

18.  The Mercy line shall be marked twenty feet from home plate along the third base line. When a player has reached, or surpassed, this line the runner must advance to home. (no going back).

 

19.  Players must participate in a minimum of eight regular season games, to be eligible for the playoffs.

 

20. NOTE: Teams playing the first game of the night are responsible for getting the equipment out of the league locker (South wall of Cummer Arena) and securing them on the diamond. Teams from the final game of the night are responsible for removing the bases and putting them back in the equipment locker at the South side of Cummer Arena.
